why agape

Agape.

(uh-GAH-pay)

Funny word. But what a story.

Growing up in East Texas, Josh's dad was a firefighter and a house painter. On his days off from the fire department, he'd take Josh along to learn the trade. Josh picked up a good work ethic from his dad — but more importantly, he learned how to treat people.

At the start of each job, Josh remembers his dad kneeling down to thank God for that particular job. His dad later found out the meaning of the Greek word agape and used it in the name of his painting business. It means the highest form of selfless love — God's unconditional, sacrificial love for humanity.

In honor of his dad, Josh gratefully chose to name his own business Agape Painting Co. He has run it for 23 years with professionalism, hard work, and strong communication — seeking to please his customers and to treat them with respect and kindness.

An art teacher's eye

Along with painting houses, Josh taught art to thousands of students for 23 years — in four states and two other countries. The attention to detail shows in the work, and the sensitivity to other cultures has served him well.

A former realtor

He sold houses before he painted them. He knows what buyers notice in the first eight seconds and which rooms actually pay you back when you sell.

On every job, personally

No salesman, no rotating crew of strangers in your house. The man who bid it is the man doing it, and he's the one you call if something's wrong.

Twenty-three years in, and he still shows up himself.

The color consultation

Most painters hand you a fan deck and wait. Josh walks your house, looks at your light and your furniture, and gives you a real recommendation — plus an honest number for the work.

Hire him and the $200 comes straight off your project. Don't, and you keep the color plan anyway.

What Josh does

Services

Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, trim and doors — plus light sheetrock and texture repair. The nail pops and hairline cracks get fixed before anything gets painted, not painted over.

Exterior painting

Siding, stucco, brick and shutters, with light construction where the surface needs it. Rotted boards get replaced, not caulked and hoped over.

Handyman repairs

Rotted trim replaced. Curtains, drapes, blinds and artwork hung. Hardware swapped — pulls, knobs, door handles. The small things that never quite get done.

Murals & hand-painted work

Original artwork on your wall. There isn't another painter here who offers it.

Line striping & sport courts

Residential basketball courts and court striping, laid out and painted by hand.

Color consultation

Bring him your light, your floors and your furniture. He'll tell you what actually works.

Something nobody else here does

Murals.

Josh paints original artwork on almost any surface, vertical or horizontal. An art education degree and 23 years teaching art to kids and adults qualify him for custom work most painters won't touch — including floors and residential sports courts.

It's the reason his color advice is worth having. And it's a service no other painter in this market offers.

Kids' rooms, dining rooms, storefronts and church spaces. We start with a sketch. Nothing goes on the wall until you love it.

How it works

Three steps, no surprises.

1

You call, he answers

Same day, usually within the hour. You talk to the man who will be painting your house.

2

He walks it with you

Room by room. You get a written scope and a written number before he leaves.

3

You love it for years

Start to finish, same hands. Then Josh checks in once a year to see how the house is holding up, long after the last coat dries.

After the job

Still your painter

next year.

That's the whole idea behind the name. Agape is the love you choose to keep giving

and you can't do that for someone you never speak to again.

01

An annual check-in

Once a year, Josh reaches out to see how the house is holding up. No pitch, no invoice. If a spot needs attention, he'll match the color and take care of it.

02

Your rate stays your rate

Come back, and you won't start over as a stranger. Returning clients keep their pricing and go to the front of the schedule.

03

Share the love

Send a neighbor his way, and you choose the thank-you: $100 off your next project or $100 donated in your name.

We're not here for one job.

We're here for your home.

You'll hear back the same day — usually within the hour, and from Josh, not a call center. If he's on a ladder you'll get a text.
